Bees Love Organic

On April 22 2012 Nature & More launched the "Bees Love Organic" campaign. During the campaign period from April till July we handed out 400,000 bags of bee-friendly flower seeds in the Netherlands, Germany, Belgium, Sweden, the UK and other countries! By planting these seeds in your garden or on your balcony consumers helped to create 400,000 square meters of organic, flowery, bee-friendly environment. UPDATE: the campaign has ended and bags of seed are not available anymore.

Saving the bees

Saving the bees
On 22 april, when the fruit trees were blossoming, Nature & More started the big spring campaign "Bees love Organic". In this campaign 400,000 bags of organic flower seed will be distributed among consumers in Germany, Sweden, Belgium and the Netherlands. The campaign was set up in cooperation with the Dutch NGO's Bionext and De Bijenstichting, and the German NGO Blühende Landschaft. Dutch seed-growing company De Bolster has provided the organic flower seeds!

The campaign is a cooperation of Nature & More with several NGO's, wholesalers and retailers:  Bionext and De Bijenstichting ("The Bee Foundation") in the Netherlands, Netzwerk Blühende Landschaft in Germany, the Youth Initiative Program in Sweden, beekeepers associations in several countries, 23 wholesalers and retailers in Germany, etc. De Bolster, an organic seed-growing company in the Netherlands, is providing the organic flower seeds.

Biking for bees

Biking for bees

More than a thousand Dutch consumers are currently transforming a 1000 kilometre long bicycle trail, called "the potato trail", into a "bee trail", by sowing organic flower seeds. 23 German organic wholesalers are distributing 280.000 bags of flower seeds with their organic products, and the Youth Initiative Program in Sweden created flowering meadows as well as a short YouTube video featuring buzzing students. All these activities, large and small, are part of the international "Bees love organic" campaign that was recently launched by Nature & More and will run through the summer of 2012. Nature & More, together with a number of NGO's, is distributing 400.000 bags of organic flower seeds throughout Europe, to create positive action: let's start helping the bees, by sowing seeds and eating organic.

The year of the bee

The year of the bee

2012 has been elected Year of the Bee in the Netherlands. Honey bees fulfill an essential role in the world’s food chain. Approximately 1/3 of all food on the planet depends on bee pollination. Bees are having a hard time lately; they’re dying in droves. This is probably the result of three factors: large-scale use of insecticides in conventional agriculture, a downward trend in general biodiversity, and the spread of bee diseases as a result of globalization. Bees are currently better at surviving in cities than in the country side. To save the bees in rural areas, we need more organic agriculture. Organic agriculture tackles two of the three causes of the decimation of bee populations: it provides for increased biodiversity, and no insecticides (e.g. neonicotinoids) are used in production.
