The sustainability flower
Each Nature & More grower has a personal Sustainability Flower. This "power flower" is our model to evaluate and communicate the sustainability achievements of our organic growers. The six flower petals deal with ecology: soil, water, air, plants, animals and energy. The heart of the flower is about social aspects: freedom, justice and solidarity. The flower points the way to a greener economy: an economy that results in improved human well-being and social equity, while significantly reducing environmental risks and ecological scarcities.

How the flower was developed
The sustainability flower was developed in 2009 by an international group of prominent pioneers and innovators of the organic movement, operating under the umbrella of the "Belbis Desert Club". Among them are the founders and leaders of Eosta, Sekem, Alnatura, Lebensbaum, Rapunzel, Fibl, IFOAM, Soil & More, the Soil Association and others. They were looking to unite ecological and social values in a single elegant model. For each aspect of the flower, performance indicators were defined on the basis of the GRI Guidelines.
Transparency leads to solidarity
Only integral sustainability can be true sustainability. By providing insight into all sustainable aspects of a product that are normally lost in the anonymous marketplace, Nature & More empowers consumers. An anonymous market will always allows for ecological or social exploitation. By providing transparency, we want to replace exploitation by solidarity.

The flower petals: ecology
Through the flower petals, we tell you how the grower cares for ecology. How does he keep the soil healthy, save water, reduce carbon emissions, protect biodiversity and save energy?
- Soil - A healthy soil is the foundation of worldwide food security.
- Water - Fresh water is scarce and must be used responsibly.
- Air - How can we deal with climate change and reduce carbon emissions?
- Plants - Growing healthy, GMO-free crops while maintaining flora biodiversity.
- Animals - Fauna biodiversity helps to maintain ecological balance and deserves protection, from worms and insects up to elephants.
- Energy - The sun is the original energy source for food production. How can we reduce the use of fossil fuel and promote sustainable energy use?
The flower center: people
Through the flower center, we tell you how the grower cares for people: his employees and the local community. The heart of the flower relates to three different planes of human existence: the mind (personal development), the heart (human relations) and the body (basic needs).
- Freedom - How does the grower support freedom of the mind? Does he support personal, cultural or spiritual development?
- Justice - How does the grower support equality and justice in human interactions? Does he protect human rights, avoid discrimination and allow employee participation?
- Solidarity - How does the grower take care of people's basic needs? Does he protect his employee's health and the health of surrounding communities? Does he provide people with sufficient means for food and housing?
